Triangle Area Polo Club - Team Captain
David Brooks is a professional polo player, Director of Triangle Area Polo Club (TAPC) and Lead Instructor for the David Brooks Polo School. He is a 5th generation horseman who grew up in Orange County, North Carolina. David started helping his dad train young horses when he was only 10 years old. A decade later, he discovered Polo and has been hooked ever since. His first professional job was riding with legendary Polo Pro Jimmy Bachman, playing for Palm Beach National in Florida. They won two tournaments, including the prestigious National Delegates Cup. After traveling the southeast playing professionally, David and his wife, Leslie, returned home to Orange County to start their family. While trying to rejuvenate polo in the Triangle, David honed his skills in "Polocrosse", a hybrid sport of polo and lacrosse. He played for the US Men's Team in Ireland and coached the National Youth Team for 4 years. He also won a national championship in 2010. The following year, the United State Polo Association asked David to revive polo in NC. He and Leslie founded Triangle Area Polo Club and at their farm in Hurdle Mills. In his polo school, David emphasizes having fun, practicing good horsemanship and learning sound basic skills. In TAPC's first two seasons, David has led players to win multiple tournaments and All-Star awards.
